Dorothy Jean Newman Clark

Dorothy Jean Newman Clark died on Tuesday, January 10, peacefully at home with her family at her side. She was born on October 18, 1926 in Lubbock, Texas and lived in Texas for most of her life before moving to Savannah, Georgia to be near family.

Jean attended high school in Texas and attended Texas Tech and SMU. On October 5, 1950, she married the love of her life, Courtney Clark. They moved several places with his career at Exxon and eventually settled in Midland Texas for over 50 years. They raised their 2 daughters in Texas. Jean was active in their lives and enjoyed working at the Midland community theatre. Her greatest joys were her two grandsons.

Jean is survived by her husband Courtney of 66 years, her daughters, Sue Ann Hearn, husband Lance, Carolyn Higganbotham, husband Dean and grandsons, Lee Hearn and Clark Higganbotham.

The Family wishes to express gratitude to her extended family of caregivers, Dreamers, Jazmine, Carmen, Moneisha, Anika, Nika, and Phillip. The family also want to thank Dr. Tim Daugherty and staff for their excellent care.

The service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 13, 2017 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel. Burial will follow in the Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
